Old Forge Technologies is a sole-trader consultancy operated by Andrei Trimbitas from Bury Road, Kennett, Cambridgeshire CB8 7PP, United Kingdom. For any privacy matter, write to info@oldforge.tech. This policy is written in plain English because we're a small workshop, not a law firm.

§ 01Who we are

The data controller is Old Forge Technologies, a sole-trader business registered in the United Kingdom. Andrei Trimbitas is the sole controller of the data described in this policy.

Address: Bury Road, Kennett, Cambridgeshire CB8 7PP, UK
Email: info@oldforge.tech
Phone: +44 1638 814 039

§ 02What we collect

When you contact us via the form, the chat widget, or the scheduling page, we collect only what you provide:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Company name (optional)
  • The content of your enquiry or chat message

For analytics, we use Google Analytics 4, which anonymously measures how visitors use the site — browser type, approximate region, pages visited, time spent. These are aggregate numbers. They're not tied to your enquiry.

The chat widget uses browser localStorage (not cookies) to remember your conversation between visits. See the cookie policy for the specifics.

§ 03How we use it

Enquiry data: to reply to you, understand what you need, and — if relevant — to follow up about ongoing work. We will never add you to a marketing list without explicit consent, because we don't run one.

Analytics data: to understand which pages are useful and where the site can be improved. Always in aggregate; never linked to your enquiry identity.

Chat conversations: processed by large language models (Azure OpenAI, for now) to generate replies. Stored briefly for session continuity, then expired. See retention below.

§ 04Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with marketing partners, data brokers, or advertisers. Full stop.

We do use a handful of service providers who process data on our behalf. Each has a data-processing agreement in place:

  • IONOS — web hosting (infrastructure located in Germany)
  • Google Analytics (Google LLC / Google Ireland) — anonymous page analytics
  • Microsoft Azure OpenAI — powers the chat widget (conversations processed in EU data centres)
  • Email provider (IONOS Mail) — delivers emails between you and us

§ 05Data retention

Enquiry correspondence: kept for up to two years, then deleted or anonymised — unless we enter into an ongoing engagement with you, in which case it's retained for the life of that engagement plus six years (for tax & contract record purposes, as required by UK law).

Chat conversations: stored for up to 30 days for session continuity, then expired. You can clear your local chat history at any time via the bin icon in the chat widget.

Analytics data: retained by Google for up to 14 months.

§ 06Your rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct anything that's inaccurate
  • Request deletion ("the right to be forgotten")
  • Object to processing
  • Request portability — a machine-readable export
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where we rely on it)
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office

To exercise any of these, email info@oldforge.tech. We'll respond within thirty days — usually much sooner.

§ 07On cookies

We use a small number of cookies and localStorage entries, covered in detail in our Cookie Policy. In short: essential ones for the chat widget, plus privacy-respecting analytics. Nothing used for advertising, profiling, or tracking you across the internet.

§ 08Contact us
